Fraser Market Access, L.L.C. was started in 2006 by Peter Fraser of Alexandria, Virginia and is registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Limited Liability Company. Our business is to promote and sell high quality shelf ready foods and beverages prepared and packaged by outstanding small and medium-sized Colombian companies. We began selecting coffee and chocolates of certified origin, cheeses, tropical fruit products, and empanadas (turnovers) with cheese and vegetable fillings. We aim to create a highly cost-effective sales and distribution system for our products in each step from manufacturer/supplier to final consumer in order to be able to offer attractive, competitive prices to our customers. FMA targets small food chains and other higher-end shops, hotels, and restaurants that cater to people who seek new, interesting, high quality products with a Latin American origin.
Since small and mid-sized suppliers have capacity constraints, FMA will be careful to manage inventories and confirm new orders with suppliers before finalizing agreements with buyers.
A strong and trusting relationship is important to us. Our policy is to establish direct relationships with suppliers, importers and distributors, and retail outlets to get to know their companies though on-site, personal visits. We think that this personal interaction will give a stronger basis for our business relationships and long-term dealings with suppliers and buyers. By emphasizing a closer relationship with allied companies we can understand better how to structure business relationships, financial and logistical operations, and marketing plans for each company.
Our role in the process is flexible. We are open to being an importer and distributer in a traditional model or we can also act as a sales agent in a hybrid type relationship that includes aspects of the importer/distributor/wholesaler model. Our objective is to find the most efficient relationship in order to control costs and to ultimately offer attractive prices to wholesalers and final customers.
Sanitation and health standards are of the utmost importance to us. Before we enter into a business relationship with our suppliers, we visit their production, storage, and packaging facilities and verify that registration and sanitary requirements have been met and that the products are in compliance with the regulations of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Social and environmental responsibility count. Fraser Market Access regards sound social, environmental and labor practices as important traits of suppliers. Peter Fraser created the company as an extension of his thirty five-plus years experience creating and implementing business and economic development projects in Latin America and the Caribbean and other parts of the world on numerous projects of the United States Agency for International Development, the Peace Corps, and other organizations working on income and employment creation in developing and emerging economies. His background in small business development and trade issues includes a clear emphasis on the social and environmental responsibilities of private enterprises and helps shape the business and company culture engendered and cultivated in our business.
