In Colombia, South America, a number of varieties of grilled corn patties, called Arepas, are favorites and are usually made plain with either white or yellow corn. They are generally eaten with eggs and beans at breakfast, soups and stews at lunch, and meat and poultry dishes at dinner. They are also available filled with egg or white fresh cheese that gives the Arepa a wonderful flavor and moister consistency. Arepas can be used as a base for a wide variety of snacks and quick meals.
